A WORD ABOUT SENIOR SEX

Senior Sex
So, What is senior sex? That kinda depends on each of us.  If you are in your twenties, then senior would be probably someone in their forties or fifties.  However if you are in your fifties and still sexually active then to you senior sex would be most likely those in their late sixties or seventies. Actually there is not a definite age that makes one a senior as far a sex is concerned.  We know of a couple in their seventies that are still very sexually active.  To most of us senior sex would be someone the age of our parents.  We all have a hard time thinking about our mom and dad having sex.  This is a turn off for us.  However that's how we all got here be it happened in a bed on the beach, behind a tree or back seat of a 51 Ford. Getting older does not mean that you lose your desire for sex or intimacy.

The human sex drive is regulated by Testosterone be it male or female.  The make up of the testosterone is a bit different in male vs. female but it's still testosterone that gives us the drive and desire. If you feel that your sex drive is getting much lower as you age, you should see your health professional and have it checked.  One study of men between 45 and 59 indicated that men that have 2 or more satisfying orgasms a week can reduce their risk of dying by over 50%.  Another study by AARP the largest lobbying group for seniors over 60 showed that 85% of this age group has some type of intimate experience at least once a week.  So this indicates that sex is still  one of the most important parts of our life as we inter into the autumn years of you lives.

After menopause, most women find that their vaginas are less dryer and less lubricated during sexual arousal than they were prior to menopause. Less lubrication during vaginal intercourse can lead to a good deal of unpleasantness or even downright pain. A water-based personal lubricant, such as Astroglide or Wet, can go a long way in alleviating discomfort stemming from vaginal dryness. A lubricant can be applied to either partner, but for the most lubrication, it can be applied to both! Find out more about combating vaginal dryness from our water Based Lubricants page.
